3/4 HP 550 Watt Computer Controller and Matching Servo Motor fits Many Mini Metal Lathes. In the original motor location of your spindle drive mini metal lathe.

Of all threading gears and auto feed systems. Fits mini metal lathes that the drive belt goes directly to the spindle gear. Does not fit mini metal lathes that have an intermediate shaft (high/low gear).

To fit these you would need a different top gear and a different belt. Individual parts, motor mount, timing belt with timing gears, spacers and adapters are available.

See my other listings for a kit to install your own motor. Note: the mounting bracket for the 3/4 HP is a little more complicated than the 1 hp model. The horsepower improvement compared to the original 3/4 hp motor and board as well as compared to the 1 HP Custom Crafter servo system. This system provides full power at any speed and that includes Spindle RPM's as low as 60 RPM's. Explained, I cannot stop this at 60.

The chuck with both hands and I have strong mechanics hands. This is the same result as the 1 hp system I build. However the original factory 550 watt motor is easy to stop at estimated spindle speeds of 200 rpm's High speed: Here to my surprise, this 3/4 hp system reaches 4,500 rpm's (2,700 rpm's at the spindle) in about 1 second.

The 1 hp servo system only reaches 3.500 rpm (2,100 rpm's at the spindle). If you go from dead stop to full speed in 2 seconds, it will hunt between 4,300 and 4,500 for a couple seconds.

The 1 hp does not nor does it reach this speed. Motor and spindle speeds + Reverse: The motor speed can be programmed and or full range can be achieved with just the speed control lever: Speed control programming only requires a few easy steps. Reverse is simple, just hold the yellow button for a few seconds. Programming includes the ability to set bottom and top RPM range separately. In other words you can program the system to run the spindle at any speed or range of speeds you choose (see below).

Slowest speed achievable: Motor 100 RPM = Spindle 60 RPM. Highest speed this one produced: Motor 4,500 RPM = Spindle just over 2,700 RPM's. Note: it is not recommended to spin the spindle any faster than 2,000 rpm's unless you upgrade the factory installed spindle bearings. See the 1 hp system running. On You Tube search for.

Mini Metal Lathe 1 HP Servo Motor 750 Watt Computer controlled with threading and gears Same username the Custom Crafter. The drive belt and gears. This system comes with a new L050 size belt and drive gears to match.

L050 is twice the strength/size of the original belt. This is required to manage the higher torque and faster speed changes.

Not only that, it solves all the issues found in the original factory system. Those issues were: premature belt failure. Belt skipping teeth at start up and poorly machined gears shredding the belt.

This listing is for a fully alpha tested system like the one seen in the photos. This includes the modified control unit with thermal overload protection and the grade 8 set screw/pin. A new 550 watt motor like the one seen here in photos and on you-tube. Motor will come with the motor mount installed and locked in the proper location for the test lathe.

This may require adjustment to fit your lathe. It will also come with the small timing pulley installed on it by a custom made shear pin. (You get one of the 2 aluminum set screws see in photos and one grade 8 hardened steel set screw).

A new control computer like the one seen in photos and on you-tube. This control unit is modified by The Custom Crafter to include a thermal overload system with reset button.

A new speed control switch like the one seen in photos and on you-tube. The Custom Crafter made in the USA motor mount. Installed on motor, see line 1. The Custom Crafter made in USA spindle bearing head adapter. The Custom Crafter made in USA spindle spacer.

One steel or aluminum spindle timing pulley re-machined by The Custom Crafter to fit spindle. One steel or aluminum motor timing pulley re-machined by the Custom Crafter to fit the motor. Comes preinstalled on motor (see line 1).

A new L050 1/2 wide timing belt. A small parts package with 5 stainless 316 self tapping screws. These are just in case you have none but in most cases you will chose/supply your own to fit your location. The Custom Crafter quick program and spindle speed card. Package will include basic written assembly instructions.

This will include a text number for direct assistance from the custom Crafter. Assembly requires some technical skill to include minor machine work. You will have to cut the die-cast gear housing to allow additional room for the larger timing belt.

(see photos) this can be done with a hacksaw and a file but a pneumatic cut off tool or die grinder will ease this job. A spreader wrench is a big help but this can be managed with a hammer and punch. You will need metric and domestic allen wrenches + a 13mm/1/2 deep socket and ratchet. Some longer allen head metric allen head bolts (not included) may also be required, especially it you over tighten and strip the factory bolts provided with your machine.

This system has enough power that it becomes tempting to see just how much you can cut in a single pass. Do not do this because the rest of the mini lathe is not built strong/stable enough for this kind of abuse.
